Food Pairing: This rewarding Chardonnay is a great food companion to fatty fish, creamy pasta dishes and risottos, poultry and mature cheeses.It smells surprisingly floral and mineral followed by intense aromas of ripe yellow stone fruit, citrus zest and cedar.Plagios White is a fuller-flavoured dry white wine with a broad and creamy palate with sappy acidity to balance. Its long yet bright, fruity taste gives way to a lengthy honeyed finish of vanilla and hazelnut praline.
Description: Plagios White is made from the French Chardonnay variety grown in a very low crop yielding area at the foot of Mount Pangeon. After a brief period of skin contact, the extracted juice is fermented in new oak barrels where it remains for a few months on the lees. The result is a pale straw-yellow wine with green tinges. Plagios, also known as ‘Sideways’, has 8-10 years ageing potential and is best poured at 12°C.
